- The Longlead Approach
As a result of years of disciplined practice, elite sports people developed a mental advantage, giving them the ability to take the “long lead” and predict where an object is moving and where they will need to meet it. This ability to anticipate improves response times, accuracy and is correlated with success at elite levels.
Just like elite sports teams, Longlead is dedicated to continually growing the cognitive abilities of its team. In our investment world, this means to seek out and bring together available information, know how to connect the dots and process it in a way to achieve conviction on where a company’s operating environment, its fundamentals and its valuation are heading. We feed this process by combining decades of investment experience with a forward-looking investment process, a consistent flow of factual insights and proprietary analysis tools.
The end result is the long lead.
Change is a fact of business life but no matter how often it arises, the natural human reaction is to pause in the face of the inherent uncertainty it creates. This is also true for most market participants – investors prefer to wait for someone to provide them with clarity.
Change in Longlead’s world however is an opportunity to get ahead of the waiting crowd. What it takes to do this is an investment process and unique team that proactively seek out and connect their own insights to turn the picture into focus quickly. Longlead’s investment process and tools are purpose built to achieve that outcome which allows us to move ahead of the crowd with conviction. For more on this contact us.
Given the unique position Asia plays as the hub of global manufacturing, research and development and services industries, it is a locus of constant change. This feeds the Longlead process continually.
However, each major market in the Pan-Asian region also has their own unique characteristics and warrants a specialist approach. With China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan, Singapore and Korea, Longlead team members are on the ground regularly, meeting with local companies to understand their own uniquely changing environments.
We bring this approach to bear, applied through a defined multi-step investment process, to identify and invest in stocks that will deliver alpha on both the long and short sides over the medium term.
